Mr. Tamil Nadu Open State Championship – 2011
It’s what they call déjà vu – it gives us a feeling of seeing once again what we saw a while back; seeing something which we love; something which is being done to promote and encourage the hardest working athletes of our State.
Hats off to E. Dayalan of Classic Fitness Centre, who successfully conducted Mr. Tamil Nadu 2011 Open State Championship at Ambedkar Kalyana Mandapam, Tambaram on September 18. Members of Team Masters clearly remember Dayalan telling everybody that he would conduct State championship in 2011 to mark the tenth anniversary of his gym. The gentleman kept his word and made all bodybuilders of Tamil Nadu happy by conducting the show and showering prizes on them once again. That he gave away trophies and certificates to all athletes who placed in top 10 needs special mention.
More than 180 competitors participated in the event. The competitors who finished in top five places were given cash awards – first place winner got Rs. 3,000; second place winner got Rs. 2,000; third, fourth and fifth place finishers got Rs. 1,000 each.
The overall title went to Tamilanban of 75 kg class representing Nagapattinam. He pushed an incredibly improved Murtuza Rasheed (70 kg class winner) of Team Masters to runner-up spot. Tamilanban’s incredible back hardness came as a stumbling block to Murtuza’s herculean efforts at winning the overall.
Tamilanban is a truly great champion and he drove away a Bajaj Discover bike for his performance.
Team Masters takes this opportunity to give a pat on the back of it’s son Murtu for having reinvented himself and erasing the memories of the last State meet in Katpadi, where he placed fifth owing to illness. Team Masters alone knows what went wrong that day and is now proud that the prince has returned, only to be crowned King soon.
Murtuza was given an abdominal machine as a gift for finishing runner-up.
A list of top five finishers and further details will be posted on the blog with more pictures soon.
